Some difficulties don't shift with quick fixes. They sit in long-standing patterns in how we relate to ourselves and others, often shaped by early attachment and trauma. I work with adults and families on complex trauma, personality difficulties, relationship problems, anxiety and depression.
Approach
Therapy starts with a safe, steady relationship. My work is trauma-informed and attachment-based, drawing on psychoanalytic thinking. Where it helps, I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Brainspotting, which can reach experiences that are hard to put into words. For parents and children I use Theraplay and Circle of Security.
About Paul
I've worked in the helping professions for 34 years, 17 of them as a qualified social worker. I spent six years studying, training and teaching at the Tavistock Clinic in London (MA with Distinction), worked ten years in adult mental health in England, including seven as a senior Approved Mental Health Professional in England, and practised in remote Western Australia. I have worked for six years as a Senior Mental Health Clinician in a Queensland public mental health service, in an attachment and trauma unit for children and families. I am completing International Masterson Institute training in Disorders of the Self (completing November 2026).
AASW Accredited Mental Health Social Worker · AASW member 472841. The AMHP role was held in England and is separate from AASW accreditation in Australia.

Fees
Sliding scale, $40 to $150 per session. Bulk-billing available for eligible clients, please ask.
Medicare
Rebates available with a GP referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan.
Other funding
Also registered with DVA, Victims Support and EAP. NDIS participants welcome (self-managed or plan-managed).
